The Teacher

Janis Green

I have been practising yoga for over a decade and teaching since 2004. After successfully completing a two year Teacher Training course with Yoga Scotland (the governing body for yoga in Scotland), I went on to do specialised training with the British Wheel of Yoga and gain a diploma in Yoga for Pregnancy.

I first discovered yoga in my twenties when I was seriously into sports and every minute (outside the pub) was spent doing some form of training. I soon realised that yoga increased my performance, reduced injuries and increased lung capacity. So I was hooked.

Then in my thirties I discovered a whole different side of yoga when I was pregnant with my two children. A gentler practice that calms the mind, controls breathing and prepared me for birth. Yoga helped ease my aches and, I believe, made the births a far more enjoyable experience.

Now, with two young children, every minute of my free-time is utterly precious and I still can’t beat yoga (you might notice a reoccurring theme here). It’s more relaxing than a massage, more invigorating than a walk on the beach and more rewarding than bagging a Munro.
